Four machining centres

Tables from 1000 x 600 mm up to 4200 x 2200 mm, table loads to 18 tonnes, spindles to 8000 rpm and positioning accuracy to 10 microns. Three of the four are bridge-type, and the floor runs 24 hours a day.

Machine capacity

Every figure, side by side

Three of the four are bridge-type, which is what lets us take a 4.2 metre die on the table in one setting.

Three of these are bridge-type centres. Accuracy figures are the positioning accuracy stated for each machine.

ISO 9001:2015 Certificate 26DQQS29

Our quality management system is certified to ISO 9001:2015, for the manufacturing and supply of precision machining components and toolings for automotive and non automotive industries. It is what the certificate covers: the way this shop is run, recorded and audited. It is not a product certificate and it does not certify the accuracy figures above, which are the positioning accuracy stated for each machine. The registration is held subject to surveillance audits.

Machine 01 · Bridge type

Awea SP-2016

A bridge-type centre with a 2300 x 1500 mm table and the fastest spindle of the four at 8000 rpm. A higher spindle speed is what finishing passes want, so tooling that fits inside 2100 mm of X travel is usually cut here.

The table is rated to 6000 kg, the control is a Fanuc 18iMB, and positioning accuracy is 20 microns.

Machine 02 · Bridge type

Sigma SDV-4224-H

A 4200 x 2200 mm table rated to 17000 kg. A four metre die or press tool goes down in one setting rather than being split and re-clamped, and 1200 mm of Z travel leaves room above a deep cavity.

Travels are 4200 mm in X and 2500 mm in Y, the spindle runs to 6000 rpm on a Fanuc 18iMB control, and positioning accuracy is 30 microns.

Machine 03

Feeler FV 1000

The smallest table on the floor carries the tightest accuracy figure on it, 10 microns. Small, detailed work belongs here, where positioning accuracy matters more than table size.

The table is 1000 x 600 mm and rated to 1300 kg, travels are 1100 / 650 / 650 mm, the spindle runs to 6000 rpm, and the control is a Fanuc 0i MF.

There is no photograph of this machine in this section, and that is deliberate. We are not going to put a picture of a different machine here and let you assume. It is also the one centre of the four that is not listed as bridge-type.

Machine 04 · Bridge type

Hision DB28L40

The heaviest capacity on the floor. The table is rated to 18000 kg, Y travel runs to 2800 mm and Z to 1300 mm, so a tall, heavy block has room above it and support under it.

The table is 4200 x 2200 mm, X travel is 4200 mm, the spindle runs to 6000 rpm on a Mitsubishi M80 V control, and positioning accuracy is 20 microns.

Off these tables

What comes off them

The table above says what each machine can hold. These two came off those tables: a deep drawn die cavity finished to a mirror, and a multi station press tool on its pallet.

Both were photographed on our own floor as the tooling came off, so they look like a shop rather than a showroom. There are ten photographs of work off these machines on the work page.

From your file to the spindle

The design data is yours and arrives as your file. The programming and the cutting happen on this floor.

Unigraphics

Customer design data comes in as Unigraphics. We programme from the model you send, as supplied.

The other incoming format. Same route through the shop: your model, our toolpaths.

WorkNC

Our CAM. Every toolpath is written in WorkNC, whichever of the four controls ends up running it.
